Breaking the Ice

Here I am, jumping on the blogging bandwagon. I feel like a fish out of water, but I'll throw my hat in the ring. I hope I haven't bitten off more than I can chew. Anyway, thanks for lending me an ear.

I have a very literal mind. Whenever I hear a play on words like "going out on a limb," or "at the drop of a hat," I see it vividly in my mind. English is a very colorful language.

Songs are usually the worst. I distinctly remember listening to Charlie Rich's "The Most Beautiful Girl" when I was knee-high to a grasshopper. When he sang "I lost my head and I said some things," I first pictured this guy running around looking for his head. Then I wondered how he said anything if he didn't have a head.

More recently, I have enjoyed listening to Walk the Moon's "Shut Up and Dance with Me." My favorite line is, "She took my arm-- I don't know how it happened." Of course, I imagine the fellow looking dumbfounded at the girl who has just detached his arm.

All this is to say, welcome to my blog. I march to the beat of a different drummer. I may throw in everything but the kitchen sink, but if you're looking for political posts, you're barking up the wrong tree. Hopefully, I'll give you some food for thought, but I won't be airing my dirty laundry online. I'll be in a pickle if this post isn't your cup of tea right off the bat, but even if you don't think it's the best thing since sliced bread, I'm tickled pink that you've read this far. Thanks for stopping by!
